Counterfeit Consternation and Images
I have received numerous emails and phone calls regarding the recent fraud attempt on Ebay. Please, let there be no doubt that the 3 coins which were removed Thur am by Ebay, were/are indeed COUNTERFEIT. The one comment made that stands out the most goes like this.........but the planchetts do not look like the fakes......Each of these 3 coins, has had something done to the surfaces. The two silver coins (46 NFLD 5 cent and the 1940 NFLD 10 cent) are on either 40% silver clad or 90% silver planchetts. (Both offered by the Counterfeiter) The 1946 toned up....the 40 polished a bunch to say the least. That said, the angled images also made it more difficult to identify them. But the markers work. The Rev of the 40 and 46 leave no doubt when compared to the fakes. The Rev.'s however are date specific, meaning each Rev does show different markers than the others. But the Obv.s used are the same. That is why getting ALL images On-line is/must be a priority! I will provide the images.....They tell the tale..........Does this post make sense? MM
