jfoot13 - I don't have time to check my coins right now, but to answer your Q another way(going with my failing memory), I believe that the broken serif obverse was found on 1891 (maybe even 1888, so it would then be impossible for the obverse to show up on 1892 w/o the broken serif.)

If/when I get a chance I will try to confirm that for you unless someone else does first.
