Re: snipers

Sometimes, coins sell on ebay for stupid high prices, I've very often taken second and third looks, blowing that photo up as much as possible, trying to figure out why the price was so high for an ordinary coin.

On, say Monday (you were napping that afternoon), a coin sold for $6.00, but the bids on today's auction for a nearly identical coin is $18.52.

You didn't see the auction last week( ZZZZZ ). You want it, you need it, click $19.02. YEAH !. I won ! 3 guys wanted it today, but only 1 last Monday. If YOU saw it on Monday, you might have had it for $6.50. You snooze ..........

I see that $18.00 sale, but missed last week's $6.00 sale also ( golfing of course ), I figure I can make a few bucks on one of my extras, list my own for $15.00, it doesn't sell, lower the startiing bid to $12, doesn't sell, lower start price twice more to $5 'cusnow I'm pixxed and just want to get rid of the ^%&^$ thing !! Sells for $6.00. " I"LL NEVER LIST ON MONDAY AGAIN &^*%%^ !!!"

Several days later ( Tuesday this time, ya that'll work), I list a nearly identical coin from a batch of 20 coins I won last Monday (that was the very same Monday that Dick was napping), for a 3 day auction. Friday comes; "Some ebay buyer named Dick owes me $19.52 +$2.00 shipping, cool"

No one is as cheap as me, Dick, when it comes to bidding on coins. I often make STUPID-LOW bids, meaning under 1/3 list value, and often much lower, as you will see in the examples below. (s/h incl.);

1858 5 cents Lg. Dt. G-6 = $34.50 lists at $100. + I've seen some SMALL date 1858's, in worse condition, go for this much, although the list for the small in G-6 would be $25.

1880H 5 cents obv. 2 VG = $ 2.99 lists at $ 50. less than 1/16 !!!

1910 5 cents Rnd Lvs Fine = $ 3.60 lists at $ 30.

1881H 50 cents Good-4 = $15.57 lists at $ 50.

NS-2C1 colonial token VF = $ 7.50 lists at $ 35 . 10 cents 1886 sm6/6 G-6 = $39.90 lists at $200+

These are only some of the auctions (won about 240 out of probably 10,000, who knows) I got between January and March of last year, and it continues all year.

You just have to find the right auction at the right time, just like if you walked into an auction house on Sunday but missed the Fabergé gold pencil that was sold on Saturday $250.
