a question for AussiBob

It is interesting that you mention how black le coins get when left in the case, this is probably due to the presence of |Sulfur in the paper of the case. The problem I see, is that a black silver coin undipped can be called Mintstate or Specimen, but if it gets dipped, the silver is either removed or redeposited on the surface thus changing the original luster. How far along it picked up Sulphur will determine how much of the "original lustre" is left when dipped. I may be ultra conservative, but it seems that the technical deginition of mintstate is uninterupted lustre and that coin has interupted lustre, just look at the date. IMHO it should be assigned a SP58 grade because of the dip. My question is simply why do you not consider dipping a form of wear.
