Re: Counterfeit Edward VII 50c?

Good to get the views of the counterfeit experts, and I'd guess a relief for Crossings. But definitely a dipped piece. The 1903's are the only Heaton date in the series, and are very well-made, and have a lot of lustre pop, unlike this coin, which appears flat and grey, indicating to me that it was once darkly toned and then dipped . In MS, they have a great deal of die polish in the fields on the obverse, so much so that your initial opinion is that the coin has been rubbed.

The coin that 5 Cents provided the link to is propably the best Edward half that I have ever seen. I have the other in MS-66 which, along with the quality of the other stuff in that auction and the usual limited budget, is the reason why I didn't bid on this coin at the Heritage sale, but do have a look at the Heritage link to it, and remember that it is even better than what it appears from the link.
