Re: White metal 1850 BK of Uppr Canada 1/2 Penny Token
This is a BANK OF UPPER CANADA ONE HALF PENNY, identified by Charlton as PC-5A. Of this date, Doctor Courteau identifies some 75 different varieties. Of all the colonial tokens, the St. George series is perhaps the best executed. The series was struck in copper. Of the thousands I have encountered, I have never seen, nor heard of any deviation from the copper. I suspect at one time your token was either silver plated or put through a silver wash. Further investigation is necessary.
