Re: Gold, placer type

Gold is formed in a silicon magma. Silicon and gold have an affinity for each other..thus quartz with gold wraps..like the gold is hugging the quartz. This can be seen in hard rock mining and again in placer where the specimen arrived there by eroision of the host rock. These pieces are specimens...valued as a item of curiosity moreso than for weight. Big chuncks in the ounce catagory and Wire gold also fall into this catagory. Larger nuggets are sometimes deemed Jewellers Gold..intended to show off...again can demand more. Different areas produce different colors as per other mineral content. All here in BC runs around 88 - 92 %.. Flour gold is much purer due to its fineness. Will try to put some pics on for you.
