Re: 1943 5¢ Type-1

The so-called 1944 tombac question ... originated within over-active imaginations : ) ...

The totals of non-issued for circulation or left-over 5˘ tombacs at the end of 1943 ... is 400.00, which does equate to 8,000 pieces ... (source 1942 and 1943 Mint Reports)

The 1944 MInt Report states that 400.00 worth of tombacs were placed into circulation for that year and that the coins were struck in 1943 (no grey area here!)...

The 1944 Mint Report also states that the 400.00 worth of tombacs were all ... distributed to Ottawa...
