Green slime on silver

unfortunately I have become a victim of PVC on my 2X2 cardboard flips, I rarely look at my coins and I loved having them in these so they could be fully enjoyed, this last time I looked I noticed some of the silver had green forming around the rims. Anyhow I had to pull them all out and I am going to soak them in Acetone to stop/remove the green slime... But I have some questions hopefully you guys can help me out.

- How long should I soak the silver for int he acetone? - Should I put it in a glass jar or something else? - Should I do one at a time, or can I put them all in at once? - Does PVC affect other coin metals besides silver? like copper, nickel, zinc or the stuff loonies are made of? - Should I be removing all the above coins from these 2X2's as well? - Is there something else I can put my coins in that are as good as 2X2's that have no PVC? - How can I test for PVC in the future to avoid this from happening?

I'm not a happy camper, but thanks for any insights :-(
