In my opinion it was worth exactly what it sold for because there was a willing buyer at that price.In 1985 I did a run of shows in western Canada. When I returned I owned 12 1921 5 Cent pieces VG-VF that I paid no more than 1600 per coin as most dealers had them and could not sell them...I did buy 5 from one dealer...the coins were hard to sell over a period of 3 years...as I seemed to buy more than I sold.....by 1989 the coin in VG was around 2K and it has crept up to today's levels with strong support over the last 10 years....any rare coin will outperform the value of money over a period of reasonable time and there will always be lulls in the market like we experienced in the 80's.....
