"HOW, in your opinion, would the TPG know where it came from?"

Unless the coin was a 'one-of-a-kind' coin, or it had a specific feature of some sort which the TPG could remember, then the TPG wouldn't necessarily know that it had previously been in a holder. It's just another coin coming in for grading as far as they are concerned.

I know individuals who have submitted the same coin several times until the coin came back one point higher which meant a 'Trends' value of hundreds or even thousands of dollars above the previous grade..
